Searching for a place
where the whole family can mingle with
royalty and cheer dueling swordfighters
and enjoy entertainment fit for a king?
If so, you won't want to miss the Cain's
Crossing Renaissance Faire. "Take a day off to another time….."
Designed
as a replica of a merry olde English
town in the year 1592, the townsfolk
of Cain's Crossing are jubilant upon
the arrival of Queen Elizabeth on her
progress through the area. Beautiful
Cain's Crossing is set along a trade-route
where peoples from countries near and
far gather to offer food and drink
and wares to the visitors who come to
enjoy the merriment of this festive occasion.
For the price of admission,
you are encouraged to immerse yourself
in the stark simplicity of the times;
dressing of the period, speaking the
olde English, and lending your good cheer
to the pageantry. Hark, be bold!
Take
on the guise of a Renaissance figure
- Be it a Lord or a merchant, a peasant
or a farmer or a court jester. Then
stroll through the spectacle of the marketplace
in your new personae and delight in
the surge of strange sights and tantalizing
smells.
Make way for the royal
procession, lest you lose your head to
the Queen's Royal Guards. Barter with
a merchant for fyne crafted wares. Indulge
your appetite with succulent meats, vegetables
and fruits washed down by hardy ale
or dark exotic coffee.
Leer at the buxom
maidens going about their business.
Be enthralled by the bellydancers of
the Ottoman Empire. Blush at the implications
of a silver tongued scoundrel as
you walk past. Cheer on a dashing swordfighter
from the Diamond Rose Academie dueling
for his honor. Rejoice in the ribald
street performers and entertainers.
Be amazed at the magician who seems
to make objects appear out of the very
air. Eavesdrop on the gossip mongering
ladies-in-waiting at the House of Swindon.
For the price of admission
you have bought excitement and escape.
Use it well. And when exhausted from
your revelry, use this renaissance faire
to find some fine handmade wares that
you have always desired.
All of this
takes place in the large, oak studded
meadow of the Auburn Regional Park
where Cain's Crossing will transport
visitors to an English style country
fair with an agreeable array of colorful
characters, entertainers, rogues, royalty
and craftspeople all roaming throughout
the village. The town will be bustling
with activity to ensure a good time with
a great variety of amusement, food for
feasting, swordsmen fighting for the
prize, a bevy of bellydancers and a children's
glen for the little ones.
Cain's Crossing Renaissance
Faire will benefit the Auburn Education
Foundation. This event is co-sponsored
by the Auburn Recreation District and
the Auburn Education Foundation. Proceeds
from this wondrous affair will go directly
to the students of Auburn.
