It is 6th Century Briton, Arthur has only reigned as High King for a few short years. This Year, 521 AD, The Fall Festival marks his 17th year in life and his 5th year as the Leader of the Britons. At the end of the celebration last year a runner came to the village announcing that Saxons were landing on the shores. Arthur mustered what men he could and left at first light the next morning. The High King, Arthur Pendragon, hosts his annual Fall Festival with a celebration of his victory. The champions of last year, the nobles and their men all set forth to fight a war against the Saxon threat and hold them back from the main lands. It was a long and grievous battle but Arthur and his men returned home victorious after pushing the Saxons back and defeating them at the fort of Badon Hill. Come join in the celebration of victory, come see if your favorite companion returned alive, come cheer and be merry as we welcome home the troops. Shall we see together what deeds, good and bad, unfolds during this celebration? The peoples of the land are proud, strong and fierce. King Uther, of Roman decent ruled the land after his brother Ambrosious and upon his death that first year of our tale gave the sword of kingship, Caliburn, to his son, Arthur. Upon his becoming king at age 14 he decreed that it is his goal to unite the petty kings and nobles of the land under one flag as his father had tried to do, he would keep the Saxons at bay and away from the lands and he would rule with Justice. He has kept his word so far. He has also proclaimed that the small village named Carlisle shall be his place of celebration each year during the fall festival. It is a village in ruin amongst the woods, its buildings destroyed, some falling to shambles, though its villagers will not leave as it is their home. Each year he works diligently with his men to rebuild the lost treasure of a city and he invites you to come see the progress and enjoy a weekend in his world as he celebrates the harvest season with the peoples of the village and the nobles from the surrounding lands. Come meet Britons, Romans, Picts, Saxons, Irish men and women and many more civilizations of the 6th century. Learn about their cultures, don't be shy to ask them about their homeland. This event is a learning experience for all where you can disappear into history and become a part of the life of King Arthur and his Companions. |
