Pre-Raphaelite Heavy Gauge Pewter Tankard |
 |
Is this a great looking tankard or what? It has a kind of 'royalty' look to it.
This is a heavy gauge, Pre-Raphaelite styled tankard. Larger than most other pewter tankards/mugs, actually holds about 20 ounces.
Body has 6 cornelian cabachons embedded in the center band. A little over 5" tall. The band with cabachons is not engraved but actually external to the tankard body. That means the inside of the tankard is completely smooth. Handle carries the stone design with raised polished 'beads'. Body is highly polished.
Note that the cabachons may not be red (as pictured). Colors may vary depending on what they set into the tankard in England. Specific colors cannot be specified. If you want a specific color, email me to see what colors are in stock.

Highly polished Pewter Goblet with open Celtic Knot design in stem |
|
Goblet is approximately 6" high and 3"+ across the top. The body is highly polished and has a unique open Celtic Knotwork stem.
Open casting is the most difficult to accomplish, which is why you typically do not see open cast pewter. It is absolutely beautiful when done properly . Base has tiny balls across the bottom rim of the base and the stem carries a deeply engraved pattern.
The base is heavy cast so the design in the open casting really shows up. The heavy casting makes the goblet feel substantial in your hand.

Celtic Knot half pint Tankard |
|
Smaller size is great for those who drink wine. This pewter tankard is engraved with the Celtic Knot Design and comes with the square style handle. It is smaller than a standard tankard and holds a half pint (or for those of us who reside 'across the pond', that would be 8oz.).
Measures about 3 3/4" tall and about 3 1/2" across the base. The upper lip is turned out to match the design at the bottom of the tankard. Pewter cast is quite thick so design is barely visible on the inside (which, in turn, makes it quite heavy for such a small size).
